Prize Rules
Pre-launch summary. The full Prize Terms & Conditions are in final legal review. This page explains how the weekly round works so you know what you are entering.
What is the round?
Each week, every Markhunt player is automatically entered into one prize round. A round runs Monday 00:00 to Sunday 23:59 London time. The top three explorers by verified on-foot visits win a small Amazon e-gift code, paid by email.
Prizes
| Position | Prize |
|---|---|
| 1st | £25 Amazon e-gift code |
| 2nd | £15 Amazon e-gift code |
| 3rd | £10 Amazon e-gift code |
Who can enter
Anyone 16 or over with a Markhunt account. There is no entry fee and no purchase is needed; buying boosters does not change who wins because the ranking that decides prizes is based on verified on-foot visits, not on boosted points. This is a free prize competition under the UK Gambling Act 2005.
How a visit is verified
To count, a visit needs a recent GPS fix within the landmark's radius (typically 50 m), recorded in person on a mobile device. The app's anti-cheat systems check for spoofing, teleporting, and impossible travel speeds; visits that fail those checks are voided silently. Decisions on voided visits are at our reasonable discretion and you can appeal by emailing hello@markhunt.app within 7 days.
How winners are picked
At the end of each round we run the leaderboard once with anti-cheat finalised. The three highest verified-visit scores win. Ties (same score) are broken by the timestamp of the player's first visit that week — whoever started earliest wins the tie.
How prizes are paid
Winners are emailed within 5 working days of the round closing, using the email associated with their account. The Amazon e-gift code is delivered by email and is valid for 10 years under Amazon's standard terms. We cannot send the prize as cash or to a different platform.
If you don't claim
If a winner does not respond within 14 days we will offer the prize to the next player in the ranking. After 28 days unclaimed prizes are returned to the prize fund.
Things that don't count
Visits from outside London Zone 1 (the area we cover at launch), visits we cannot verify, and visits flagged by anti-cheat will not count towards your score.
Promoter
The prize round is promoted by the Markhunt operating entity (United Kingdom). No third party is involved in selecting winners. Questions: hello@markhunt.app.
